Abrantes honored by US PoliceRoger Abrantes was in January 2010 an instructor at the CNCA (California Narcotic Canine Association) and he was honored 'in recognition and appreciation of your contribution toward the California Narcotic Canine Association and the pursuit of professionalism in the use of canines in law enforcement.' "It was a nice surprise," Abrantes says. "I was not expecting it, and it came at the best possible moment. I was really sick and I drugged myself with pain killers. As soon as the meeting finished, I flew to Thailand to have surgery. I just didn't want to miss that meeting at all. They deserve it, those brave men and women, not to speak about the dogs. If we instructors can't overcome our own personal problems, how can we ask them to do it?" he asks rhetorically. "Thanks guys, it was wonderful, I'll be back in 2011," he finishes with a smile. |
