BSc in Animal Behavior Therapy Syllabus

Here is the syllabus for the various studies. Once you are registered as a student, your tutor will help you to plan your studies. It is very simple, though. You start from one end and finish in the other. When you are a registerd student you get access to a 'Student Menu' where the table below shows links to every course, textbooks and articles that you must read, videos that you must watch, and the mandatory evaluation for the courses.

For the difference between assignments, tests and exams, please read 'rules'.

All courses with mandatory tests are pure distance education courses. For each course, you read the books and/or articles that you must, watch the necessary movies, complete the knowledge reviews and review them with your tutor on an one-on-one meeting. When all that is done, you take the test for that course.

All courses with exams require attendance on campus. We hold on-campus courses several times a year in Cambridge UK, Gaia Spain, and Chalong Thailand; and sometimes in the USA and Australia.

Your final graduation exam for the BSc diploma takes place in Cambridge, UK, in August. There is no final exam for the CPDT, CPAT and ACPAT programs. Once you have passed all the mandatory tests and exams, you have earned your diploma.

We have reduced mandatory on-campus course attendance to a minimum by implementing the following measures: excellent text-books that you can read on-line, one-on-one tutorship by mail and Skype meetings, on-line tests, and video exams.

We have minimized the administration of our study programs by implementing immediate and automatic grading of all tests (you print your own certificate of completion approved with our seal and duly signed), student credit charts on the student's on-line profile, on-line registration for all courses and events, and on-line payment of semester fees.

We were pioneers in the implementation of distance education. We believe we are still at the front of the field. Our combined distance education and on-campus study programs offer, probably, the best and most modern facilities for any such program in the world.

Writing assignments

articlesYour assignments must have a certain personal character. It must not be a copy of a book or an article. When dealing with definitions, you will quote books and articles in which case you must mention the source. All animals you mention must be identified by their scientific names (Latin names).

Length of Assignments

articlesThe max. length of an assignment includes illustrations and references. If you write much less than the max. length, it suggests that you are answering questions superficially.
Ethology and Learning Theory: please read the instructions for each assignment.
Pilot Project: seven to 10 standard pages.
Final project: 30 standard pages (plus/minus 10%) including illustrations, but excluding forms, data, etc.

Video Exams

VideoIconWe introduced video exams on a trial basis in 2005 and they are now fully incorporated in our programs structures due to the excellent results both students and teachers have experienced.
For the student, video exams confer the opportunity to be able to do an exam from his/her home location saving expensive flight tickets and time.
For the teacher, it proves to be a much more accurate form of analyzing the student's work. The fact that some students have to go through a series of repetitions shooting their exams before they send them to their tutors for approval is just a benefit—they are actually training and analyzing their work while shooting the videos.
