Certified Professional Dog Trainer Program (CPDT) The serious program for the serious dog trainer To train dogs and to instruct their owners is a great responsibility. Now, in the 21st century, dogs and owners need a new type of dog trainer. Our way of life and consequently our relationship to our dogs and the role they play in our lives have changed. The new dog trainers of the 21st century need to be well prepared to face the challenge of tutoring owners to fulfill their commitment to their dogs; and to train the dogs to live up to their owners' reasonable and fair expectations. We have designed our Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT) program to comply with these requirements. 120 hours of quality lecturing and practice We have designed the courses in the CPDT program to maximize learning efficiency. The main subject matters are Canine Behavior and Animal Learning Theory, in theory as well as in practice. Additionally, you will receive lecturing and training in other basic topics relevant to your understanding of canine behavior and learning, and your instruction of your future clients, the dog owners. The CPDT program structure You must earn 33 credit points to earn your diploma. There are two ways to become a CPDT. One is to take the first level of our BSc in Animal Behavior Therapy, which takes one year. The second is to take the dedicated CPDT course. In any case, the requirements are the same. The only difference is that the first option gives you the theoretical courses as distance education, while the second is a full on-campus course. To graduate you must pass 11 tests and pass a practical exam in Canine Training where you and your dog must demonstrate a certain degree of practical proficiency. CPDT courses in your home town The CPDT is an ongoing program at the Ethology Institute. However, dog clubs can favorably organize a CDPT course. At these external courses our teachers move to your location and give you all classes in your home town where you also can take all your tests and exam. This is often a more practical and cheaper solution than to send students to the Institute, all depending on the number of students the dog school wishes to certify. Contact us for further information. Students Credits Chart When they register, all students get a personal credits chart in their profile where the credit points for the courses they take and the tests and exams they pass are registered. Students can see their personal updated records online anytime they like. |
