Cambridge e-Learning Institute's mission is to promote the understanding of ourselves and of our surrounding world through science and an ethical framework based on sustainability and welfare values.

CEI started as a medium for promoting respect for animals through education, concentrating on their biology, behaviour and welfare. More recently, the CEI network has expanded to include more partners bringing a large range of expertise in other scientific fields. We at CEI share the same enthusiasm for the importance of science as a means of understanding the world and ourselves. We also believe that learning is a life-long process, which does not stop when we leave school or university.CEI staff and collaborators consist of experienced teachers and university lecturers, extremely passionate about their subjects. CEI aims to share this enthusiasm with those without access to universities, who have a thirst for knowledge and personal development. We aim to make this knowledge accessible to everyone through flexible modular courses, full programmes and short workshops.

CEI's goal is to create a space to share ideas and learn from each other's experiences.Cambridge e-Learning Institute provides education and professional training through online, distance learning and face-to-face workshops. CEI runs its own courses developed in house, or in partnership with other organisations. It also hosts, manages and delivers third party courses.

CEI is composed by four divisions, each one managed by one divisional director.
